Just starting my first (budget) build, and at this point as far as optics go I'm debating between the Vortex Diamondback Tactical 4-46x44 FFP and the Monstrum G3 6-24x50. Both are first focal point scopes and is what I'd prefer. For the Vortex, the brand name and warranty both gives me peace of mind, however it IS ~$200 more expensive.

Yes it is second focal plane which is what keeps the price down, but do you really need a first focal plane scope for your purposes. Hunting, I think not.

This is my second Vortex Diamondback Tactical FFP scope. I have the 4-16x44 for my deer rifle and have been so impressed with it, that I ordered the 6-24x50 for a long range .308 build. The glass is as clear as any I've ever seen for under $2000. The side focus is easy to use, with its clear range labels.
